CREATIVE SOUL

JOURNEY OF A CREATOR IN THE SOUL

A childhood spent near Forcalquier in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, forged the character of Muriel Ughetto as well as her taste for universes imbued with authenticity.
A father of Italian origin, a mother of Spanish origin.
Italy will also remain her other country of hearts with a deep tie, no doubt linked to this wonderful Piedmontese grandfather, a region in which she was also able to frolic as a child…

As a very young designer, in 1993 she launched a first collection of lighting and textiles, in which natural materials have a preponderant place.
In parallel with this first line, marketed under the “D’ici et d’Ailleurs” brand, it developed several ranges in other sectors, in particular that of scents, which was booming at the time.
Rewarded with a Découvertes prize at the “Maison et Objet” show in 1997, she also participated in the very first Vivre “Côté Sud” show in Saint-Tropez.

In the hotel sector, then in full mutation, Muriel went on to collaborate with the “Relais et Châteaux” chain and developed product ranges for Alain Ducasse, Anne-Sophie Pic and even Bernard Loiseau…
She also signs projects for restaurants and casinos for the Partouche Group, for Club Med, or even object design for, among others, Guerlain.

At the same time, it develops scenography know-how for various events such as the Cannes Film Festival and other congresses, private parties or product launches…

In 2005, she returned with a new collection which she exhibited at the first Projects session on “Maison & Objet”.
It offers a textile collection that celebrates the know-how of embroidery, featherwork, trimmings, lace, other methods that aim to ennoble the textile. This “haute couture” collection has met with real international success and has led her to collaborate with major architectural firms. A delicate research work on the marriage of crystal and textile, applied to furniture and lighting, in collaboration with the house of Swarovski, gives birth to the collection “L’azzle du mat”, presented in turn in the Projects area. of the “Maison & Objet” show in 2008.

In 2013, she decided to take a professional break to devote herself to a major project.
The restoration of a recently acquired farmhouse, in a very personal spirit and simultaneously, the architectural design of a first contemporary house, a true manifesto of its style.
Located on the heights of Cannes, the So What project, a long parallelepiped of concrete, as if suspended on the side of a hill, combines Muriel’s requirements in terms of architecture and the art of living.
Its goal, to become one with the surrounding nature from all the parts.
A technical and graphic challenge which consists each time in linking the inside to the outside with subtlety and harmony.
Large openings of course, but also a work of proportions and subtle layout of the green spaces. Each plot of the garden was designed by Muriel as a painting that we live from the outside and admire from the inside.

From this extremely enriching experience was born the desire and the almost necessity of a new collection.

The muriel ughetto collection

Her eyes sharpened even more by this extraordinary project, more aware than ever of the richness of belonging to a dual culture which, she says, has shaped the balance in her perception of things, she puts down on paper a series of lights, furniture, textiles, which it intends to have manufactured as locally as possible and in the most ethical and virtuous way possible.

A very technical collection but imbued with a great poetry that advocates craftsmanship, mixing natural materials such as glass, clay or wood, softened by feathers, silk, wool, cotton, linen and hemp. …

Lines with distinct styles, sometimes with strong ethnic and African influences, or with a more feminine inspiration and a bohemian touch, more vegetal and floral.
All mainly thought around the family of blacks, browns, whites and green, always green, again green, his favorite color.
